The mission of the YMCA of Western North Carolina is to put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
The organization’s vision is to be the premier health and human services provider in Western North Carolina as an effective catalyst for community improvement.
During the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the YMCA provided more than $1.8 million in subsidized services benefiting over 3,906 children and families who might not have been able to participate otherwise. In all, more than 50,000 people in Western North Carolina have experienced the benefits of the YMCA this past year. And with the afterschool program being the centerpiece of the YMCA’s work with children, we are the largest child care provider in Western North Carolina for 750 children daily.
