The YMCA of Western North Carolina is always seeking to add new and innovative programming to educate our community on the importance of their personal total wellness and well-being. With that, we are excited to unveil Waves of Change H20 Body Boot Camp. After our previous successes with similar programs, we are excited to offer holistic programming on a much grander scale to reach those health seekers in the community who need to make positive lifestyle changes; physically, mentally and socially. The inspiration for a water based Boot Camp program comes from the fact that many times, participants have felt that they are no longer good candidates for land based group activity for a variety of reasons.
This Boot Camp is an intensive six week program designed to kick start metabolisms and get participants on the path to lifestyle changes that can have a positive impact on their lives. Waves of Change targets newcomers to exercise and to people who want to make healthier choices in what they do and how they eat. It is also perfect for the moderate exerciser who wants to break that plateau and get more out of their workouts Our program philosophy is in two parts: Phase one involves group exercise in water and land to increase cardiovascular activity, muscle strength, flexibility and overall weight loss. Phase two involves class time to help participants to make smart choices that affect their overall health awareness. Class topics include goal setting, consuming smart calories, and long term commitment to getting healthy.
Our Staff
We have a specialized team comprised of Dietitians, Physical Therapists, Personal Trainers, Life coaches and other guest speakers brought in to speak about their trained professions. Before your camp starts, you will be evaluated by one of our Wellness Coaches who will identify your physical fitness levels and make suggestions or modifications to tailor the program so it will work for you. Once the program is underway, our staff will evaluate your progress and periodically suggest healthy changes. After the program is over, our personal trainers will stay in contact with you to help keep you motivated and excited about your wellness journey.
Our Program
Our Boot Camp workouts are unique because we believe that there is more than one way to burn a calories and not everyone can handle heavy impact on their joints. We offer a variety of water and land based modifications to help avoid undue stress on knees and feet. Our program in Asheville offers a full five day weekly program that includes both shallow and deep water group cardio twice per week, land based stretching and muscle isolation once per week, low impact land based strength workouts once per week, and small team sessions once per week with our personal trainers to really target trouble spots and strengthen weaker areas of the body. On top of all that calorie burning, we exercise your mind with lectures once per week and small classroom sessions mixed in to help you identify ways to eat healthy and exercise regularly as part of your new life.
