Youth Development Coordinator – Tennis Camp

Job Location: Hendersonville YMCA

The Youth Development Coordinator – Tennis Camp is responsible for supervising and instructing children ages 5-12 in tennis, from basic to advanced skills. The applicant is responsible for ensuring a safe and fun environment for Y Campers. The incumbent will develop and implement curriculum for two (2) week-long sessions of Tennis Camp, with lessons suitable for a variety of age groups. The candidate will work with the help of the Youth Development Coach – Tennis Camp.

The Youth Development Coach – Tennis Camp is responsible for supervising and instructing children ages 5-12 in tennis, from basic to advanced skills. Under the direction of the Youth Development Director and the Youth Development Coordinator – Tennis Camp, the Youth Development Coach – Tennis Camp will implement an appropriate curriculum for two (2) week-long sessions of Tennis Camp. The applicant is responsible for ensuring a safe and fun environment for Y Campers.

Bus Drivers safely transport Day Camp/Afterschool participants to and from field trips, conduct preventive maintenance checks of the vehicles, ensure vehicle cleanliness, and attend and participate in all staff trainings and events.

Summer Day Camp Youth Development Mentor (Buncombe and/or Henderson County)

Job Location: YMCA Child Care Services

Youth Development Mentors are responsible for ensuring that campers have a safe and fun summer. Staff will be required to lead traditional camp activities such as games, camp crafts, songs, archery, sports, adventure/team-building games, low ropes, and swimming. Youth Development Mentors will be primarily responsible for maintaining supervision of group, both on-site and during field trips to local attractions, as well as hikes in National Forests.

Summer Camp Youth Mentor Specialist

Job Location: YMCA Child Care Services, YMCA Youth Services Center

Youth Mentor Specialists will be responsible for leading activities in their specialty as well as supervising children ages 5-12 in a day camp setting. Five specialty fields will be offered: sports, arts and crafts, environmental education/outdoor skills, and two open-ended specialties subject to applicant’s passion and ability to teach to children. Specialists will need experience in designing lessons suitable for a variety of age groups. In addition to leading activities, Youth Mentor Specialists are responsible for ensuring a safe and fun environment for all YMCA Campers.

Wild Adventure Camp Youth Mentor

Job Location: YMCA Child Care Services

The Wild Adventure Camp Youth Mentor is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of daily and weekly activities in a trips-based summer camp program for children ages 10-17. The WACC will organize and lead activities including hiking, rock-climbing/bouldering, whitewater canoeing/kayaking, backpacking, camping, and more. This position will supervise a group of youth both on on-site at YMCA facilities and off-site in backcountry settings, including state and national forests, swimming holes, and camp sites while ensuring a safe environment for participants at all times. The WACC will also be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading three separate, week-long sessions of “Wilderness Camp”, which includes adventure course work on Monday, and then a 4-day, 3-night overnight trip Tuesday through Friday at Camp Watia in Swain County. This excursion will include a variety of wilderness activities: hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, swimming, rafting, outdoor cooking, and/or service learning.

Youth Development Attendant (Hendersonville)

Job Location: Hendersonville YMCA

Youth Development Attendants will consistently and constantly engage with children during each shift. This includes, but is not limited to: playing with children (toys, games, activities, arts/crafts, playing outside), reading to children, holding children, supervising play (watching play, yet still interacting, moving, and talking to children), and following the curriculum. Incumbents will plan and lead activities, including arts/crafts, learning activities, games, and physical activities. Incumbents will follow all safety and department policies and procedures.
