Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring activities and maintaining order in swimming areas, preventing accidents and rescuing swimmers in need, and providing assistance to members. Lifeguards are also involved in the upkeep and maintenance of the aquatics area.

The McDowell Health Coalition Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the marketing, administration, and internal communication efforts of the McDowell County Health Coalition. This position reports to the Chairperson of the Coalition and is formally employed and housed by the YMCA of Western North Carolina. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the leadership of the Coalition through designing surveys and analyzing data for grant proposals, networking within the community, completing operational and administrative tasks, providing reports, and updating the Coalition website. The incumbent will ultimately streamline communication between the board and the various committees and work-groups that operate under the McDowell Health Coalition umbrella. The Coordinator will perform other duties as assigned by the Chairperson and/or McDowell Health Coalition Driver.
