Engage with PHC on Earth Day

On April 21 (Earth Day), Warren Wilson College and partners are hosting a family-friendly day of free workshops, presentations, and Old-time music. You are invited to celebrate and participate in Sustaining Our Mountain Culture and Environment by learning and promoting skills for acting locally. The idea is to make our region a little more green, a little more resilient, and a little more fun!

There will be a session about the Y's Pioneering Healthier Communities (PHC) initiative and its vision for positive community change. Participants will gain clarity on the goals and expectations for PHC within Western NC, have an increased understanding of environmental and policy change as the focus for this work, and feel empowered and connected to a larger healthier communities movement.

We will be showing a 30 minute long movie - Unnatural Causes - followed by a 20 minute audience engaged discussion. Unnatural Causes is part of a seven-part documentary series exploring radical and socioeconomic inequalities in health. The premise of the movie segment and dialogue is to investigate findings that are shaking up our conventional understanding of health.

Earth Day presentations, field trips, and hands-on workshop will be held from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Warren Wilson campus. You can find more information here.
