How to be a typical teenage boy—fish, ride bikes, play basketball, and hang out with friends.
Randy’s life hasn’t always been that way. Struggling with being honest, refusing to follow directions, and lacking self-esteem, Randy was doing poorly in school, and planning on dropping out before graduation. He was crying out for attention and was acting-out negatively to get it. His decisions were impulsive with little respect for authority or consequences. He was facing some severe challenges when he came to the Y looking for help. Randy enrolled in the Teen Afterschool Program (TAP) last fall.
He has since made a complete turnaround. With the help of his volunteer TAP Mentor George, he brought his grades up, is much less impulsive, and now has dreams of graduating high school, maybe even going to college.
