Summer Food Service Program
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to get nutritious meals when school is not in session. In the summer of 2016 the USDA plans to serve more than 200 million free meals to children 18 years and under at approved SFSP sites. The YMCA of Western North Carolina is as SFSP sponsor and serves all of our summer camps and several open sites within the community. To learn more about this program and where we serve meals, contact Cory Jackson, Nutrition and Wellness Director, at [email protected].
Child and Adult Care Feeding Program
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program administered and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service. The program ensures that eligible children and adults who attend qualifying facilities receive nutritious meals. As a sponsor within CACFP, the YMCA of Western North Carolina serves free snacks at all of our afterschool sites in Buncombe and McDowell counties.
