Basketball

Basketball

The game that was invented in the YMCA still feels right at home here. Y Basketball leagues provide a competitive, yet friendly environment for skill building. We emphasize the values of team sports, including sportsmanship, teamwork, and having fun.  Everyone plays and everyone plays fair.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading

If your child is interested in competition, joining a school squad, or just wanting to learn the sport, our cheerleading program is a great place to learn the skills they will need. Our cheerleaders learn dances, jumps, chants, and team spirit in a fun and safe environment.
Field Hockey

Field Hockey

The Y’s Field Hockey Club is the only location in Asheville that can provide your child with the opportunity to learn and play this great game with some of the best in North Carolina. As well as learning the skills of the game, we teach the value of sportsmanship and friendly competition. This is a great game to help stay healthy and active.

Flag Football

Flag Football

YMCA Flag Football leagues introduce your child to the fundamentals of the game. We lead drills and games that teach the skills and positions of football as well as important values that are used on and off the field, all in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment. Lacrosse

Lacrosse

Lacrosse is growing more and more popular in our area and the Y is happy to provide the opportunity to learn this sport in a friendly environment. Players learn and practice the basic skills of passing, catching, dodging and shooting while honing quickness and speed and learning about strong values, and staying active.

Soccer

YMCA Soccer develops soccer skills while providing an environment that promotes caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our leagues are co-ed and set in a friendly, yet competitive environment. Everyone plays, everyone learns, and everyone has fun.
Sports Nutrition

Sports Nutrition

Active kids are healthier kids, but too often kids are rewarded with high calorie, low nutrient foods such as candy, cookies, and sugary drinks after participating in sports. These snacks make it harder for kids to get the nutrients they need for optimal growth. Good nutrition supports good health and enhances performance! Summer Sports Camps

Summer Sports Camps

Our Y Sports Camps provide a great place for children to learn and grow in the sports they are more interested in. Through skill development sessions, tactical instruction, and expert coaching, campers are able to progress at their own pace. Counselors strive to build character and promote teamwork, all while having a great time!
T-Ball

T-Ball

Y T-ball is coed leagues that emphasize teamwork and fair play. The progressive nature of Y T-ball provides a fun experience for kids. For our youngest players, the tee provides them with a stable ball while learning the basic motions of hitting, along with the fundamentals of catching, throwing, and teamwork. All in a fun, non-competitive environment.
