Y Stories

Girl for stories

“The Y has benefited my child in many ways. The first benefit is she is more confident in herself. She has had the opportunity to meet and get to know many different adolescents from different backgrounds giving her the opportunity to expand her friends at school. The pre-teen years are one of the hardest times in a child’s life and the Y has given her the opportunity to have someone to share and discuss problems that she has encountered where if she had to have faced these problems alone may have been more apt to choose the wrong solutions. The YMCA has guided her to make the right decisions.”

Meet our members and discover what makes our YMCA such a special place in the lives of children and families in Western North Carolina. For your convenience we have included some of our favorite stories for education and inspiration. We encourage you to share these stories with others as you talk about the Y.
